Energy-saving lighting: How to save energy just by changing to LED
Have you ever thought about changing your light bulbs to LED, and if you did, what you would get out of it? In this article, you can read about all the benefits of LED lighting.
If you choose LED lighting instead of traditional light sources, you can light your home using the same amount of light for less money. On average, one household use about 5% of their energy budget on lighting, but switching to energy-efficient lighting such as LED light bulbs will make you able to cut your electricity bill.
What is the difference?
With the traditional and old incandescent bulbs, you are throwing away money on wasted energy. The traditional incandescent bulbs use a lot of energy to produce the light, which is actually a waste of energy. Therefore, they are no longer produced, and we advise you to buy energy-efficient light bulbs such as LED light bulbs instead. LEDs are a type of solid-state lighting and the new and rapidly-developing technology ensures a better use of the energy, which will save you money. Actually, the LED light bulbs use only 20-25 % of the energy and last up to 25 times longer than a classic traditional light bulb.
How to choose the right LED light bulb
When you have decided to invest in LED lighting, there are a few things you should notice. First of all, it is important to emphasize that, even though the LED light bulb might be a bit more expensive to buy up front than a traditional light bulb, it will be a better choice in the long run. The LED light bulb will save you money, as it uses less energy and lasts longer than the classic light bulbs.
When you have to decide which kind of LED light bulb you should choose, think about the brightness, the color (do you want the light bulb to give off a warm or cold light?), if it looks good outside and whether it can be dimmed. You also need to decide if you need some extra features such as a light bulb with a driver or maybe with a motion sensor?
It is also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the technical features when you have to decide which LED light bulb you should choose. If you want to understand the technical features of LEDs, you can read our blog post on the topic here.
