CBS SIH

The former police station on Howitzvej has started projects in 2017-2021. The building is listed, which made the renovation extra challenging in some areas. It is Copenhagen Business School and SIH, which today use the building for several purposes such as lecture and course center. Hence the house is called Student Innovation House.

About the project

Student Innovation House. That was the starting point. There should be larger spaces where medium-sized meetings could be held and innovation flow together. The building is of older date and houses an interesting history. The whole building is listed and most recently it was used as a police station. The CBS SIH project is a unique project, where especially BERTELSEN & SCHEVING ARCHITECTS have ensured that the renovation could take place with respect for the old architecture – but at the same time with responsiveness to the new users of the house.

Illumination

Considering the construction, the lighting was an important piece for the right atmosphere. Lumega is the main supplier on the project and, together with the SIF Group, has taken care of the implementation of the somewhat more untraditional lighting solutions. Here, several different types of pendants with unique expressions have been used, LED spots for the larger conversation rooms, in addition to round large wall lamps for marking the staircase’s beautiful well-kept woodwork. On this project, Lumega has paid special attention to extra good light quality. It was essential that the older preserved works of art could appear as lifelike as possible.

Lighting for listed buildings

Lighting concepts in listed buildings are often a big task. Many additional areas need to be considered. In principle, this will not only be about the best light quality. When Lumega enters the projects, we have a detailed list of areas we must consider before the workers can start. Lumega makes sure to guide throughout the project. From the selection of the products, the specifications and the assembly.

Lumega has in-depth knowledge and experience in lighting for listed buildings. We are happy to help implement lighting with respect for architecture. Contact Lumega and we can discuss in more detail at a meeting how we can help in the process.
