Stenslundcentret
Stenlundscenteret will be expanded from 54 to 84 apartments. The team for this expansion has been GPP Arkitekter, Pluskontoret, LB-Consult, Høgh & Sønberg, Viggo Madsen with Odder municipality and S / I The independent general OK nursing home institution in Stenslund as the client. Of subcontractors, we have Henning Mortensen who i.a. has been responsible for the entire electrical contract in close collaboration with Lumega on the lighting part.
About the building
With its total of 84 apartments spread over two floors, Stenslundcenteret could welcome a modern senior center at the end of 2020. The building is shaped like a large U, which opens to the south, creating a safe and protective courtyard. In the courtyard there are good opportunities for outdoor living for all the residents. The rest of the plot is decorated as a cozy, enclosed garden with paths and planting. The working conditions of the staff have also been in the forefront with a focus on good and considerate service areas. The total construction cost of the project was DKK 55 million and was run under a turnkey contract.
Illumination
The circadian rhythm lighting was a requirement right from the start. This meant that the control part and the communication between the lamps required a special focus. In collaboration with Henning Mortensen, Lumega has found the perfect lamps for this project – both in terms of function and design. We ended up with NS47, which is a very good surface-mounted LED downlight which, in addition to being energy efficient, also has the ability for minimal glare. In addition, Lumega has been responsible for the delivery of NS11, which ensure the right lighting at night. The chandeliers that adorn the entrance area were also supplied by Lumega. The outdoor lighting consisted of our bollard NS85 for path lighting and our NS98 spots mounted at the entrance. In addition, Lumega’s lighting designers also supported with their expert knowledge and lighting concepts, which are ultimately a big part of the overall impression of this extremely modern care center.
In combination with the high-tech LED chip, which switches between warm light (2700K) to cold light (6500K), perfect comfort was created. The lighting was programmed so that the electric light followed the circadian rhythm (daylight). This means that the light gets warm as we approach the evening hours and cooler as we approach the morning. This not only provides better well-being and support for the residents, but also for the staff who also benefit from this circadian lighting.
Control of circadian rhythm lighting
It can be a challenge to program lighting systems with circadian rhythm lighting. The desired circadian rhythm must first be considered. Next, the intensity, ie the amount of light – the brightness. Brightness in combination with the varying color of the light will generate the desired circadian lighting. This process requires the right driver, which in this case was a DALI V2 DT8, which can communicate with the controller.
Lumega’s lighting designers have many years of experience in circadian lighting. Join us for advice on your next project, where the focus must be on the right circadian lighting and not just a varying color temperature.
